In his letter to the believers in Colossae, Paul summarizes his mission with these words, “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).

Each week our church aims to fulfill this mandate from Scripture, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the ordinary means of grace. The order of service includes the public reading of Scripture, singing, expository preaching, and prayers of adoration, confession, gospel assurance, and gratitude (Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2; 1 Timothy 2:1-2, 4:13).

The Word of God says the heavens and earth declare the glory of God (Psalm 19:1; Isaiah 6:3). Believers gather on Sunday to glorify him in spirit and truth (John 4:24) with thanksgiving for his grace (2 Corinthians 4:6). We joyfully submit to Scripture as our highest authority (Psalm 19:7-14; 1 Corinthians 14:37–38; Jude 3–4), knowing that through his divine power, we may grow in grace, and become effective and fruitful until his return (2 Peter 1:3-8). Corporate worship then exists for mutual edification through the ministry of the word (Colossians 1:28), singing (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16), and using our spiritual gifts for the good of the church and the glory of God (1 Peter 4:10-11).

The grace of faith, whereby the elect are enabled to believe to the saving of their souls, is the work of the Spirit of Christ in their hearts, and is ordinarily wrought by the ministry of the Word; by which also, and by the administration of baptism and the Lord’s supper, prayer, and other means appointed of God, it is increased and strengthened. - The Second London Baptist Confession of Faith, 1689 (14:1)
